Hello all, I connected up my 6x9s from my stealth shelf to my headunit the other day and I was driving along with ma music on pretty loud, everything working fine then it cut out no sound no power going to it not even turnin on. I've not blown the speakers, and I thought I'd cracked it when I found the fuse had gone, but I replaced that and it still doesnt work I even tried connecting up my old headunit, and that doesnt work either. I tried the factory VW radio, and this is the only one that shows some sign of life, it turns on and asks for the security code but I dont no what it is. I've checked all the connections to the speakers and to the headunit and they are all fine. I've checked the fuse in the headunit which is fine.

Any1 got any suggestions on what is wrong with it?????
Would be much appreciated, its doin ma head with out music lol.

Cheers, tim

Check the ignition power fuse. Has an engine with a spark on it in the fuse box - theres quite a few could be any one of them, but its most likely to be the cause. Shantybeater had this problem the other day!

It can be all manner of problems when it comes to no power - theres about 5 or 6 fuses that can cause the problem, then youve got the radio circuitry and all that (something you dont play with unless you know what your doing :P)

Its possible to do that, but if youd blown the amp in the radio youd still get a display - you must have blown the power circuitry if it literally dead lol.

When i did mine, my amp somehow short circuited, and i bought a new head unit coz i thought mine had died to later find out it was just the amp all along (which was replaced under warranty)

Ive tried number 34 (ignition) and the main radio fuse but both are fine - still have no power. also put a diff head unit in and that doesnt come on either so i know its not the HU...GRRRR finished my boot build then head unit dies same day how sh1t3!!!!!

Thees about 6 or 7 different fuses!! Check if you have power on the yellow cable - as one is a permanent live as another is just an ignition live.

uv gt to watch when putting in a bigger fuse because the cable can heat up and melt without the fuse blowing your best just finding the problem i.e. loose connection etc its alot cheaper as i had to pay the vw garage 60quid to sort mine out after my cables were all burnt away
