Car - Mk5(6n2), not sure if any other polos have the same colour wires, but what you can do is check in the haynes manual for the wiring diagrams in the back

Tools - Basic tools, such as scissors, screwdrivers, plyers etc.
Time - 1 hour if you know what your doing if not faster than that.

1) Key What you will need to do is get a copy of your key cut onto the blank which is provided, then all you will need to do is unscrew the blank already on the key, by holding the key in the half open position and it's just a simple case of screwing in the new blank, which should look like your original key once you've had the blank cut. You will also need to hack the immobiliser chip out of your original key and stick it into the key fob.

2)Control Unit Right first of all what you will need to do is take a bit of the bottom dash out, theres a couple of screws underneath the panel and one or two near the light switch and one hidden behind the left side of the steering wheel behind this small plastic bit which is the only piece you will need to unscrew (for more details on taking that panel out check a haynes manual). once you've taken it off you need to get the remote central locking control box ready by neatly tying the wires you don't need. Then you can slip it on top of the fusebox and pull the wires out through the gap next to fuse box, to make sure they will be hidden away and secure when you put the dash back on.



Now what you need to do is cut a bit of the big black insulated cable, which has loads more cables inside. once you've got access to the cables all you need to do is connect these wires together


(ignore the cuts on the wires)

Unit -to- Car
2 X Brown (indicators) -to- Black/white + Black/Green
White (lock) -to- Yellow/White
White/Black (unlock) -to- Green/White
2 X Yellow/Black + Red (12v power) -to- Red/White
Black (ground) -to- Brown

Once you've got all these wires hooked up using the red clips provided start to tidy everything up. Before closing everything up and bolting the plastic panel back on check that it is locking and unlocking correctly.



once it is all working properly you should be ready put your car back together, and that's all there is to it



3) windows rollup - To get the windows rollup feature to work you need to convert negative green wire from the remote central locking into positive using a relay then you use this wire to lock the doors instead of the white one which is mentioned above. Updated For the windows to work you need to get an SPDT relay and wire it up between the green wire from the control unit and the lock wire on the car yellow/white like this (first diagram on the page converting from negative to positive) The green wire from the control unit = negative trigger and yellow/white on the car needs to be connected to the 12v + output http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page1.asp


4) Boot Solenoid - And if you've got a boot solenoid which needs to be linked up you use black/red wire from the control box.

You say brown is the indicator wires? Ive always wanted to wire mine up I have two yellow black leads on mine and could never find where to wire them too hehe

just got this kit tad confused on one line

2 X Yellow/Black + Red (12v power) -to- Red/White

i dont have 2 yellow/black cables just one, would it work with just the one? this is the pdf for my kit:http://lx-designs.net/personal/vw_polo.pdf

The PDF tells you exactly what to do and what wires to use

if you dont have anything useful to say might aswell shut up...


also what insulated cable you cutting? iv just cut one but dont think thats right!!

1 more thing ive only been given 4 clipis but im sure i need more... any ideas?

no need to be rude mate, he's only trying to help. Anyway the insulated cable which i'm talking about is the one pictured which has loads more cables inside, all you need to do is cut it open carefully so you can get access to the smaller cables inside and as for the clips you you should be able to buy some more from most automotive/electrical shops.

Dude i was merely making a point. I wasnt suggesting your being stupid!

Do you have a 6n or a 6n2?

On your kit (for either model) Its yellow and yellow black + red that need to be connected to to the red (ie battery live).

The insulated cable you will want to cut into is the one directly above the footwell - its the biggest cable loom under that part of the dash. It runs from left to right, and has branches from the steering wheel and other parts running into it.

If you are in need of more clips, maplin electronics sell the clips you require to install this.

Thanks, for pointing that out mate, i've edited the guide (the key section). You just hack the immobiliser chip out of your original key and stick it into the fob

huh? i got mine out, i could even get it out of my spare if i wanted to i don't see what the problem would be

Mine are the non CL keys so they are of a different arrangment. The transponders are almost permanently in there unless you have the key to bits which I am somewhat not intent oon doing

Ye its like that, but you cannot get the transponder out - it seems totally wedged in there!

You need to find a small flat head screwdriver and then break the inside plastic wall down, it's the thinnest around the chip. Then you need to wedge the screwdriver underneath to get it out, because it's stuck down to the bottom as well.
