hey guys and girls, im james, currently own a corsa 1.2 but interested in getting a polo mk 4 16v, and i have some questions for you all as im sure you all know a lot more than me although i have been doing some reading

are all the 16v's around 100bhp? or are there some that are like 65bhp? what are your insurance quotes like on 16v's

on the wheel front ive been looking at keskin kt4's, you can choose a 9inch rear rim, will that fit ok on the mk4? also what offsets are generally good to go with

i would also be looking at dropping it on fk silverlines or highsports, to get it looking nice and low but not so its totally impractical is this possible without taking out the plates?

id also be interested in smoothing the plate recess out of the 16v bumper, how much have others payed and whats the options with the front number plate?

answers would be much appreciated :D

i'm old and my insurance on the 16v is £275 fully comp with protected no claims. :P

however , my bowel strength isn't what it used to be and I'm starting to call people under 21 "youngsters" by accident. :?

Hi James, welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay. :) Good choice on changing from the Corsa. Just take a 16v for a drive and you'll love the 'grin factor'.

I'm 22, 3yrs NCB 350ish fully comp but with a high excess, I'm not likely to claim. Its cheaper than the TPFT quote with the same people.

The 65bhp ones you might have seen will probably be the 1.4 8v.

I would think you'll need some arch work to lower on 9 inch rear rims and probably stretched tyres too. It would look very nice however.

1.4 8v: 60bhp
1.6 16v: 100bhp.

Most of the mk5 16v engines are 75bhp, the 100bhp is less common among mk5s.

you can tell a mk4 16v from an 8v by the sports seats, bigger bumpers, smoked rear lights, alloys etc.
