80 quid for a 1.6 head.

Ive been thinking of this mod for the polo and am not sure about it. I know id gain some top end by it (well i think i would) but what about torque? How would it affect my acceleration? Im thinking if i put a bigger head on a smaller bottom end id probably lose some acceleration?

Im no mechanic just a mad theorist lol. What do you people of the world think? Im gonna give it a try anyway just too see what happens. If i lose some acceleration im not bovd cos ill just keep the 1.4 head and work on it off the engine till its ready to whack back on (gas flow throttle bodies etc etc lol yeh boi.)

Summer time is car time. And i want my car to go vroooooooom.

I was looking into something like this, I want to give my car a bit more OOOOOMPH and was looking into putting a 1.6 TB on but only got one reply about fitting a G60 TB. One of my hydraulic tappets is on the way out, so am thinking of changing the cam shaft for something a bit more spicy. If a 1.6 head can go on a 1.4 with results, I would deffo be interested in doing this myself. I belong to some other VAG forums, I'll post on there as well and find out.

Lol im having deja vou...

Wasnt it a topic on motor bike throttle bodies when we found ourselves in this situation? lol.

But wicked dude let me know the results and ill let u know what happens when i do it. End of next week it should happen, if at all. I dont even know if everything lines up but hey, ill fooking find out lol.

Dont suppose anything ever came off that venture into motor bike bodies?

(i think it was you but if it werent dont worry its early improbably just flidding out lol)

i thought the 1.4 and 1.6 heads were the same they have just lengthened the stroke. to get more power n to make it a 1.6???

The cylinder bore on the 1.4 and 1.6 is the same if that helps. It's just the stroke that changes, its increased on the 1.6.

It's a straight swap, and the 1.6's head has got wider inletvalves --> bit more torque, also has wider inlet and outlet-channels--> bit mroe power & torque.

Just swapping the heads won't make that much of a noticeble difference, putting in a different cam and exhaust-manifold/header, that will start to change the picture and will get your Polo going for sure 8)
