Ok, this maybe a silly question to ask, but what benefits can I get from installing the PD160 Intake?

It gives you a larger air flow into your car and the more air in, the wee bit faster it will go and it better for your car i suppose. The difference between the polo intake and pd160 very noticeable. You can see pics on the net somewhere with the two side by side, cant rember where tho

I've fitted one to my 1.9tdi. With it fitted I did notice that the turbo came in at lower rpm's 1500rpm instead of 1800rpm, and the torque seemed to be there slightly higher up the rev range as well..

No offence, but this is nonsense
I didn't feel any difference at all with the cupra D intake, so I wouldn't spend my money on it either. My car is even chipped and I didn't feel any difference, so on a non chipped one it's not even worth the try.
All this cupra D intake thing is just one big hype, but in the end it doesn't do anything, because it's only the starting piece of the intake that's bigger, the rest of your intake to the turbo remains smaller. So even if the cupra D intake would be like 5x bigger it wouldn't matter.
Of course when you start changing the complete intake to the turbo, then the cupra d intake piece would be useful.

Oh yeah, and to see the difference, I made a pic of it few months ago
But again:
no difference in performance ! Only if you would go and tune "extreme". (Change turbo + complete bigger intake+exhaust line/etc.)

Sorry Wouter ..

,I agree.. on my car I must say It didn't feel like it gave me any more power ,.. but the turbo does spin up slightly faster, on my car at least. No bad thing on a turbo diesel.

when i fitted it to my ibiza, i found the pick up to be slightly better, felt more eager to go! so i wouldn't say it does nothing!

I didn't notice any huge difference, but it did feel like it was slightly less asphyxiated.
can you explain why it shouldn't make ANY difference? surely this is a similar mod to the higher flow air filters - less restricting to the air flow than a smaller intake? if you took it to an extreme and had an intake the size od a penny then it would hinder performance, so why can't this help a little with a chip and so on?
