The g/f is looking to replace her [P] Fiat Cinqucento. Her budget of £1000 & the motors she's looking at (Fiesta's, Ka's & Polo's) are about the [P-S] plate age.

Seen one of these Polo's locally for sale...

1.4 L
'97 R-plate
92k mile
bodywork in pretty good condition, except for the front grille really which has been a bit mashed. Needs replacing, but everything else looks tidy enough
Tax - Jul '07
MOT - would have to ask
£895 (trade sale)

She says if it doesn't have power steering then she's not interested, as she's really wanting a motor with it.
Do these cars come with PAS as standard?

Other than that, any general info would be great. MPG stats, how nippy/slow they are. Repair bills / service cost, service intervals, cambelt change intervals etc.

Thanks.

YOu want this in the mk4 section mate!

the car sounds OK, but won't have PAS as standard. You really want to get a CL or GL for that spec. Don't bother too much with this one as you can find CLs everywhere.

Cheap to run and not much goes wrong. 40mpg out of the 1.4.

HTH.
