Is your Polo just standard or had any preformance mods?

apr remap, a borrowed cda induction kit, modified fog light for more air to the intercooler

I am very interested for pictures of that
I modified the "air circulation" to my intercooler also as intake temperature went really high. VW really made a mistake there with the new Polo's.. (look at the rest of the pictures @
http://users.pandora.be/zidox/ic ..)
What I have done:
* Ibiza FR 130HP "wind tunnel"
-> picture (original compared to the ibiza fr one + pic of it when placed)
* Made holes and sleeves in the "wheel arche" just behind the intercooler so the air can "escape" somewhere (no pics of this yet)
* Currently letting out the fog lights till I have a better solution..
(the grill is still in it)

its getting more air to the intercooler is what its about mate, dropping the inlet tempreture so the air is cooler going into your turbo, its got nothing to do with the engine tempreture.
when i did that to mine it made so much of a difference and you can feel it straight away
dont have part numbers for those items though!
wouter may be able to help!

Ah, the blissful ignorance of bolting on parts with no idea how they impact other aspects of the engine/car

surely a front mount would aid this problem well too haha

ive not bolted any random part on so its ok, im still waiting for wouter to come online to speak to him and see what he has done!
all ive done was direct more air to the cooler!
forge are looking to make a FMIC for the polo apparently, they called me to see if i were interested to be the first production car with one, but ive not heard owt haha

i also got that offered to me when i had my red polo a while back but they wanted my car for 3 days
so im waiting for the apr one to be released officially and to be tried
see my car has headlamp washers and takes space up behind the bumpers for the tubing and pumps
so the apr one is developed with this lack of space in mind as its smaller in height but chunkier in depth than the forge ibiza one and requires not a single bumper modification to fit and mount it

How they impact other aspects of the engine/car ? Positively, as turbo has now cooler air.
Trust me, it's a mistake that VW made on the new Polo's. Intake temperature is extremely high without the mods.
To give you an example, an Audi A3 2.0 TDI (originally has a front mounted intercooler though) doesn't get intake temperatures higher than 30-35°C even @ heavy acceleration (and i'm even talking about a remapped one).
The polo, with leaving the air circulation to the IC like it is original, get's intake temperatures to 100°C !! Do you think this is normal ? With tests in VAGCOM I have seen that turbo pressure etc. goes down (sort of "safety mode") so the intake temperature is able to go down.
With modding the IC air circulation, so it gets more air, intake temperature = lower, maximum turbopressure keeps being asked by the ECU -> no performance loss.
My intake temp is now around 45°C, with accelerating heavy sometimes it still peaks to 80°C.
Me and a guy are now looking if we can modify some kind of H2O-spray system to the intercooler (like the Mitsu EVO's/Subby Impreza's have originally..) to see if this has a very positive effect.
Of course, best thing is a front mounted intercooler (Like on the Ibiza Cupra D).. Low intake temperature's (< 40°C) assured.
By the way - The new Ibiza's (with the same engine+enginecode so perfect to compare) ORIGINALLY have this bigger "windtunnel", and originally have the sleeves behind their intercooler.
So please, don't start s**t around I/we don't know what we're doing

Btw, I don't remember the part number.. Just go to an Ibiza dealer and ask to order the part, just show them what it is and they will know
"Ibiza FR airtunnel"
Don't forget to make air circulation sleeves on the side of the wheel arche that is on the back of your intercooler also..
Or: you can order the Ibiza 1.9 TDI wheel arche, which originally has the sleeves..
A mate of mine bought this, to adapt this to his Polo.
Might get some pics for you guys of it.
All this ain't bullox, every thing has been thoroughly tested (had 3 Polo 9N3's to test on, also my own) and the tests are positive for sure (analysed in VAGCOM)
