Removing speedo+needles?

Howdy all, theres some brilliant tutorials on here about changing the clocks to white, but when i removed my clocks, took all the plastic shizz off and that, the metal plates with the mph/rpm on were bolted on! the thing is, its wierd rivet things holding them on that can't (as far as i can tell) be removed + the needles dont pull off, even with massive force :s does anybody else have this problem, or a solution? any advice would be brilliant!
