I have a performance air filter laying around so I thought I might as well put it to good use.

Now I'm just wondering how to go about it...

My engine is only a 1L
So do i simply remove the old filter from the cylinder shaped filter housing (that's the only way I know to describe it) and stick the new filter onto the intake end?

Make sense?

Or is there a better way to go about it? :?

Cheers :D

if you want a decent looking set up, i'd reccomend hunting down some bits off mk3 golfs or vento's. they have a different intake system which will fit the polo. you have to remove three studs from the top of the Injector unit and the rest should fit straight on.

the finished article should look a little like this:

Hello again :)
yesterday I got a call from a random car breaker I phoned months ago telling me they just got the part in!

Now baring in mind I phoned them in June about it, and they never got back to me. I'd completey forgotten about it.

Anyway they asked if I still wanted it and I said yes, so I now have the intake from a mark3 Golf.

Now it all looked pretty straight forward to fit, except once I'd taken the old air box off and positioned the new part, I realised that the 3 bolts poking out the top of the injector unit are too short :!:

I guess I'll have to find somewhere that sells bolts and get some longer ones. It wasn't immediately obviouse how the bolts are to be removed. I'm guessing the bolts themselves have to be screwed out?

Also, there is a chunky black hose the comes out from the bottom of the air box. Could anyone tell me exactly what that hose does?

Thanks, and sorry for the long, belated reply :p

its a breather hose mate. you need to pick up a breather filter form halfords or motorworld, some where like that. its little a small version of a induction filter and range from £8 to £20 depending on what make. you couldnt put up a picture of that unit could im trying to get one myself but the other picture is to small to make out what it looks like. hope that helps cheers.
