Hi folks hows it goin..!

Im not to clued up on ICE installs and i was wondering if people here who have speakers in the rear of their MK4's had made a custom shelf or whether some people mounted the speakers in the current standard shelf. Also are 6x9's the best to go for? i have had a look around at speakers, and my current setup is a Pioneer CD head Unit and the front speakers are standard..

Hope everyone had a good new year & Christmas!

If your running a sub dont bother with 6x9s - you wont hear the bass.

You can cut holes in your shelf if you want but its not advised. Best (for security and sound) to get a proper audio shelf from a specialist.

Nooooooooooo!

Don't do it!

Just get some nice speakers up front and a small sub...

That's all you need!

Ive got 4 6*9's on my custom made shelf with a sub in the boot and components up front. Its sound really good. Its all Pioneer and the 6*9's are ran from 800w 4ch Amp. The shelf was made for looks, But if how it looks isnt a problem i would say get a stealth shelf.

I would also recomend 7*10's a bit harder to get but sound really good.

Most people get hold of a stealth shelf for 6 x 9's that I know of, it more secure caseu you can't see the speakers and it holds them nice and snug..

Infact I know people who have got stealth Shelves just for the holes where the base from subs can get through unhindered without compromising the security of your car by showing the subs off...

Just thought I'd add that :P

Does anyone know if 6x9's will go on the parcel shelf of the saloon model? I don't know if it's the same as the hatchback version...

I have a pair of Pioneer speakers which fitted fine in my '86 Polo saloon, so I was under the impression they'd fit in the 'new' saloon!

If this isn't the case, where would I find a 'steath shelf'? as I've never heard of one!

Cheers!

shelf speakers will fit on the shelf of any car (except M3s - long story) its just a matter of cutting the holes

That's what I thought. As I don't actually have the car yet I was just asking to comfort my already addled mind!
