Hi
I have managed to get hold of a rear spoiler for my 6n2 which has been sprayed reflex silver.
I am looking to get it re sprayed and fully colour coded to my car.
Due to my car being metallic the coat that was already on it, it didnt have that gloosy look and feel to it.
How much would I be looking at roughly does anyone know to get it colour coded to the car? I dont really fancy doing it myself
Thanks
Dan

from the sounds of it i would guess that all it needs is a few coats of lacquer to get that shine your talking about. Who ever sprayed it must of just sprayed the spoiler and forgot or just didnt spray the lacquer on top.
best thing to do is to give it a very light sand down with some 1200 wet and dry, brush off the dust and give it a good few coats of lacquer.
do one light coat then leave it to try a few of hours then do another coat,
leave again for a few of hours and put the third coat then just leave overnight to harden completly
get some clear lacquer from halfords its only about £5 for a bigish can.
i am just colour coding my splitter and before i sprayed the lacquer on it, it just looked matt green no shine to it. then added the lacquer and now it looks perfect
good luck with it

or get a bodyshop to do it and fit it for you for probably about 100 quid or less

I was thinking about taking it to a bodyshop. 100 quid or less sounds quite cheap though. If there gonna colour code it and fit it.
I think the laquer would give it that finish. The colour looks right
Cheers again guys

going to sound a silly question but what would you say is the best way to spray laquer/paint? Im guessing there is probably a knack to it rather than just point and spray.
Thanks

nope just point and spray really, just dont spray too close otherwise it will start to run. If you do get any runs just sand it down with some wet n dry and give it another coat of lacquer. I paid £40 to get it sprayed and £40 to get it fitted
Hope that helps mate,
Haris

i went down to vw and got the paint and lacquer for £12. is the spoiler the right colour?? is it just a case of spraying on the lacquer or are you going to have to give it a full re-spray ??

its already been sprayed reflex silver which is my car colour but I was going to sand it a little and give it another light coat then like you said apply the laquer. I think that will give it then shiny metallic effect like you said

yeah i would do that, defintely use wet&dry 1200 or 1000 i otherwise you will get very noticable scratch marks!
i followed h4ris's guide for colour coding my splitter.

Hi, i also have a spoiler that I am in the process of spraying, when im fitting it, would Sikaflexx 221 adhesive be enough to hold it on?

Use windscreen adhesive, my mate has stuck his down with this and it hasn't moved an inch since. I don't know much about the adhesive u mentioned, don't know whether that would be suitable

give the windscreen adhesive a try should work a treat
