Well im planning ahead things that will probably never happen again, just like all the work i said would be going into my car lately that has thus far managed to nto manifest itself.

Just got a new girlfriend and well lads, we all know how it is!

Though i am getting a 16v rear bumper next week guaranteeeeeed!!! Which is good. Just need a front now. But yeh where was i....

OLD AUDI'S!! yes well once my lmk4 is running on throttle bodies, cammed etc etc i figure the beast is gonna run me out of pocket on petrol. So eprhaps its time for a new toy. I was considering getting an old audi, like a 100E or a coupe next year with a bit of saving and im just curious if anyone knows anything about these cars? Im guessing theyre sturdy engine wise being volkswagen engines.. (arent they? i didnt recognise the heads on some of them and i do on most Vee-Dubs of the same period)... been looking on ebay and looks like i can pick up one for about 600-1000 quid average which doesnt seem that all bad for a rear wheel drive 2.0litre 16v... that or a TDI...

oh and then there will be drifting off course... hmmm that sounds like fun....

Still information people. what does anyone know? Any first hand experiences with the cars?

I've been thinking about this to, I used to own an Audi coupe GT5s, lurverly car. You can pick them up for monkey money now, my advice is go for the five cylinder version, not four (16v), they are much smoother and a bit more potent. As for drifting, forget it, they are all front wheel drive, unless you have the money to insure a Quattro.

Id get an old coupe, my dads got a 23 year old 1984 urquattro they are built like tanks and his car is still going stong. You can get a quattro model (non turbo) , not that many around though. The only trouble he finds though is running costs and spares, being audi the cost of spares are high. The five cylinder i the one I'd go for, lots of character, the engines are very similar/same as vw's of the same era.

You can't get a RWD audi unless its a home built one off , only FWD or 4WD, you can drift 4WD's but its slighty more difficult..

hmm i must be a plank then cos i thougth they were rwd lol.

Only reason i thought that is all the ones i were looking at had the engins mounted sideways to mine... so one assumed that was rwd. Could be four though i swear every single one i looked at was the same. Maybe its some funked ancient technology i am not aware off or something...

Thing i have to watch though is insurance. I will be insuring two cars and im still a student working two part time jobs. I may even have to pack one of those up eventually depending on how things go with studying next semester!

I was quoted 1400 on the net on a casual browse the other day for a 2.0l 16v. So a quattro would be like errr... alot more? Id imagine anyway...

The engines have nearly always been installed longitudinally in audis, even though they are only front wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Saying that i cant think of another manufacturer that does the same currently, although renault used to do it in the past.

Still have to think of insurance costs though. Im guessing a 5 pot will cost alot mroe then a 4
