Bought a poverty spec 1.2 polo about 8 months ago and I got bored.

So I spiced it up a bit, colour coded the bumpstrips (very easy), added chrome handles, OE remote locking, chrome grille and stuck on some nice 5 spoke VW alloys and now she looks hot. I'll put some pics up later.

Shes my first car so I didn't wanna take the mick by getting a TDi but i've gotta squeeze some more power out of her.

So I wanna replace the air filter, but the fat plastic box is in the way, any ideas how i'd get it off? (short of ripping the bloody thing out) I know it won't increase the BHP but it'll make it sound beefier - apparently angel tuning can get another 7-8 Bhp out of her which is a big difference for that engine size.

I'm really convinced shes pulls harder than she should anyways to b honest....

what will Angel Tuning do? 7-8bhp out of what exactly?

replacing the filter box with an open air one (where you can see the filter) will lose power in most cases even with a cold air hose.

to get the noise you're better off (ahem) drilling holes in the airbox. sad, but true!

to remove the box I suspect it's a bolt at the base and removing the screws that connect it to the tubing.

To be honest mate we all have to start somewhere with a low powered engine, however there is no point in modifying it as it wont make a difference. Your better off staying put and building some no claims bonus' up. Boring - yes, but it makes sense.

Awww ok, its a lovely motor anyways. You're right, persevere with the hairdrier for a lil while longer.

Shame VW have such sh*t service tho, they really have to have the worst customer service ever. They might as well put under the aftersale section of the website - "You have the car now, tough"
