Sub Live Lead Location

I know this is technically an ICE topic but I only no it to be true on a MK4 polo and thats why I put it in here. Well I was trying to get my live lead through the grommet everyone suggests, but this wasnt happening so I found a different way.
Firstly I removed the scuttle panel on the passenger side and then removed the fan which unveils a fan type thing. I fed the live lead between the fan and the bodywork and the lead fell through into passenger footwell. Then I put everything back, but you have to cut about an inch off the corner of your scuttle panel in order for the wire to sit tidy under your bonnet.
