scuffing noise from steering wheel?

hey guys was wondering whether you could shed some light on a problem im having, every time i turn the steerin wheel it makes a scuffing noise like somethings catching! it only started doing it yesterday and its really annoying!!

anybody know what it could be???

just some dirt caught in there, might be best to adjust it up and down and see if it clears.

Yeh mine does that. Normally after I've cleaned my interior. Goes after a few days.

Attack the gap with WD40 always fixes my problem :D

Mine started doing this after a long run from Yorkshire to Devon. It was fine all the way and then started making a scuffing noise the next time I moved it. I've tried everything and it still hasn't stopped two years later! Maybe I should investigate it properly, especially as the adjuster has never locked properly since I got the car.

I had this, just took all the trim off from round the steering wheel and there was lots of dirt in there so I just cleaned that out and the noise was gone.
