i can only get between 40 and 60 miles to £10 in my 1.2 55hp polo, is there something wrong because i think its using to much fuel? i change dmy k&n 57i kit to the standard air box but that hasnt made a difference, and i have a back box which shouldnt make a difference :S any suggestions?

take your foot off the floor,
75% throttle is enough
When was it last serviced?

£10 = 10 litres (expensive quote)
5 miles to a litre
x 4.54
=23mpg
something is SERIOUSLY wrong there! you need to visit a VW specialist, you should see 100 miles really.

Agree with David - even a foot on the floor should produce mid 30's mpg in a polo with the mods listed...
Sounds like it could be running rich - no appreciable difference in driving but heavy on the wallet... get the emissions checked.
