Drove my missus new polo 1.9 SDI (well 54 plate) last night and want a bit more popwer from it. Anyone know if its possible for decent money e.g. remap or has anyone got more power out of theirs another way. Cheers

I dont think the SDI is turbocharged like a TDI so a remap would help, although the gains will probably be minimal. I suppose you could somehow fit a turbo on it but expect that to be mega bucks.

had a look about and cheapest ive found a chip is £199+vat and a KN filter is £40. Together add about 15bhp and 30 Torque.

k&n filter wont make any difference, jst make it sound nice

get a remap, that should give u about 20-30hp increase

be looking around £300-£400 for that, or sell it and get the 1.9 gt tdi, they go like f**k

I think you`d be looking at 15 hp maximum increase for a remap and for £300 - £400 a lot of money for little gain imo

To be honest, I can't really see the point in throwing a lot of money at trying to drag horsepower out of something that doesn't have much potential.
I'd keep the money, reap the benefits of the low fuel consumption and save for something faster out of the box.

a remap will see bhp go from 64 to around 80, Panel filter will make a difference, you will notice it.

ive got the same problem sdi soooooooooooooo slooooooooooooo ive got a chip for mine you can tell the differnce with it on but tbh its still not fast it smokes like a bastard and brings the emissions light on so ive taken it off.
i just keep tellin my self "think of all the other bastards that have to stop for fuel all the time"
ive also put a cone filter on and it dont make no diff to power and you cant hear it.
Just think of the 60mpg

Getting mine remapped in the next couple of weeks the "smoking like a bastid and emission light coming on" is a slight concern though

A remap shouldn't do that, David_Burton had his 100bhp TDi remapped at GTi International and I haven't heard him mention smoking etc

Hi,
yeah that's right - no smoking at all, in fact I've noticed less but I reckon that's just in my head!
no emissions light either
bear in mind my car's only done 18k, and it's not a really aggressive remap either.
