ok this only works on unlaqured rims you will ruin them if they have laqure on.

my rims had about 6months of brake dust road grime and a winters worth of salt on them, not good. the whole wheel was black with grime.

things you will need

Car shampoo ( what ever you normally wash the car with)
Cheap tesco scouring pads ( emphasys on the cheap, they break down as you use them as not to scratch the wheel to much)
Autosol
a couple of microfiber cloths.

ok so you wash the rims as normal. you will see that they are badly pitted and corroded.

next step is to use the left over wash solution and clean the wheels with the scouring pad, in one direction (keep the scratches uniform ) useing a medium to hard pressure.

rinse and dry you now have a clean dull rim,

using a fresh scouring pad apply a libral ammount of autosol to the pad and using a light pressure woking on small sections untill the rim goes black,
rub off with one cloth and buff with another.
repeat a few times till you get a good result then go for the final polish with a microfiber cloth and autosol untill the rim goes balck again and buff off.

i will try and get some pics up later today when the sun comes out,

i cant stress enough to use the cheap tesco scouring pads DO NOT USE THE GREEN ONES they will ruin the rim ( they will scratch the rim.)

essentially this method is less scary than using 1500 gritt sandpaper only use on badly corroded rims or pitted like mine were. theyve had a hard life.
