Hi all.

I presenntly own a Mazda RX7 and have decided its time to get a normal car.

Rather than getting 14mpg to and from work I figured I would go for something I can get a bit more miles out of for the 10 miles a day I drive.

Anyway, a local car dealer has a white 5 door MK3 1.9 diesel (cl i think)
and I have put a deposit down on it subject to the MOT on monday.

It seems to start very well - no warning lights etc and looks fine for the age. A bit of rust discoloration on the steel rims but nothing major. Sounds like a taxi but dont all diesels hehe. Is there anything I should be looking for ? Any idea what I should be getting mpg wise?

I think its done around 80k miles and has full service stamps.

Any help apreciated :)

Thanks all.

Edd

welcome to the forum mate!
firstly i think u may be in the wrong section, you need to be in the mkIV section, but hey its no biggie!

as its got a full service history then thats a major plus point! make sure its had the cambelt done especially! 80k means the engine is really just been run in!
look for rust round the rear wheel arches and the rear windows, my g/fs polo has rust there.
as its a cl, it should have electric windows so make sure they work, if they are struggling to go up then either the motor or regulator could be on it way out.
obviously check for accident damage down the flanks and check for creases under the boot carpet etc.
all in all polos are great little cars and should last ya a long time!

don't get me started on the marks of polos! lol

on here, the mk3 is from 1990 to 1994! yours being a 1996 makes it a mk4 otherwise known as a 6N!

i'll move the post to the correct section!

p.s. welcome to the forum! :D sounds like a decent motor that! 8)
