right, here again with another tale of woe from a polo.
Gearbox trouble today, i suspect it's a bearing got loose, read that whirring is the telltale sign in the early stages, i had that, didn't know was a problem at first, then the thing starts making the grinding bangings something crunching sound. as i said it's probably the bearing.

I managed to get the thing home ASAP, but had to cover 25 miles and a bit of motorway driving in the process, i have also lost 4th gear. from what i've said is anyone able to tell me just how much damage there could be? got about £30 in the back til end of month, which no way will cover, need to start working 14 hour shifts, 7 days a week to get money.
Cheers for any light you can shine on me, not having much luck with this car at the mo

haha dont kno bout that one, not reli an expert. i doubt u can but it dont hurt to ask i guess. it takes ages to get to the gear box and remove it, when my re-con came in the post i was surprised by how big it was. thats y the labour cost is like 200quid
