Hey guys, finally can get myself a pair of mk5 rears of a friend in exchange for my lexus lights right now! Problem is, hes got a mk5 polo, and i have no idea how many sets of bulb holders i need? Used the search function but couldnt find out if we both can just swap bulb holders.
Cheers in advance for any advice.

If your car is a Mk4 and the Mk5 lights did not come with any bulb holders, you will need to get some Mk5 holders, Mk4 holders are completely different to Mk5. I gather your lexus lights were bought specifically for a Mk4 polo, if so I would guess that these holders cannot be used. When I put my Mk5's on they came with bulb holders, like the other bloke said, just watch out for the wiring. There is an FAQ on here somewhere with some pictures on the wires that need changing and what needs changing/shaving off the Mk5 lights to fit the Mk4 shape.

Ok basically i thought (with your help of course :D ) that writing a list of what I have/presume to have, would be less confusing.
My Car:
mk4 lexus lights
mk4 bulb holders (i presume)

My friends Car:
mk5 standard rear lights
mk5 bulb holders (again i presume)

So basically, isit a straight swap from here? Apologise for the total noob-ness here but yeah, best place to ask and all. :D

Nope, it's not at all a straight swap. For the mk5 rears conversion you could say, you'd need the bulb holders for mk5 rears and you'd have to do a bit of re-wiring i'll get the link for the Mk5 5 Rear D.I.Y Guide for you..it's pretty simple
