hey this is on behalf of Hollie! we'd basically like to know what make the calipers are on the 1998 1.4 8v polo cl and heres the story as to why.........

basically her '98 1.4 8v has aftermarket discs and pads and has always had a massive brake judder when braking, its so bad the vibration can be felt through the passenger footwell!
we've been told thats its probably a warped disc and have been advised that new discs and pads will sort it. fair enough

anyways, we've gone into halfords to get the parts as my dad has a trade card and we were asked what make the calipers were, so we went and checked and it has Bendix VWII engraved on them so we went back and said "Bendix" and they don't seem to exist in the polo range.

the guy (who my dad has known for years and is very experienced) said they will be either ATE, Lucas or Kelsey Hays!

so now we are very stuck, i'm going to measure up the brakes and get all the details like width, diameter etc. we know they are vented so that narrows it down a bit!

any help you lot can give will be much appreciated!

when i bort mine. i just went to the shop called "german sweedish and french car parts"

they jus looked up on computer and told me every different type of disk and padds which would fit. witought altering the shoes or what ever.

yeah halfords have this massive book with every model of car you can think of! look under mk4 polo and there are 3 types of pads/discs listed!

My calipers have 'Bendix' engraved on them as well. Possibly you could have a look on the Euro car parts website, and see what pads/discs they do. IIRC; they sell the ATE ones there. I reckon it's a good idea to go with the ATE ones, to be honest.

shdnt they b all the same then. if they say theyll fit your car theyll come in the correct sizes.. or just ask in halfords. to be honest i wouldnt go through halfords though. theres better places around.

well this morning i've been to a place called Ajay autoparts who my dad recommended to me and they had no issues with supplying discs and pads! they were also on the shelf so thats good and in total it came to £55, which i didn't think was too bad.
the pads are Ferodo, not sure on the discs though!

then did a quote for new discs and pads on my car for the rear (which are nearly as big as the fronts on the polo) and it came to £52!

think i'm going to be used these people a few times!
