i ran over a tree this morning in the bad wether
(obv i didn't see it)

it ripped through my exhaust but not pulled it of so it's just blowing.

and also when i start the car there are no revs..
even if i start it and have my foot to the floor it seems to rev then cut out.

i've had this before when its cold but it seems to be all the time now..

any ideas?

cheers

The whole tree  , only joking mate at your misfortune. Anyway, did you sort the revs before or it just went away? might be cos'v the weather change or it might be like the irratic rev probs some Polo's are cursed with

When it don't start try taking the plugs out and putting them back in or the connections at the distributor cap, I found that helped and then the car would just start and be fine. It stopped working as time went on though.

I had this, bloody TB was the prob. Check all connections on or around the TB.

check your lambda-sensor, is mounted in the lower parts of the exhaust on some mk4 engine types. Hitting a tree on the road with your exhaust could have damaged it, which messes up the injection of the engine

++ the 'tree' was a branch about 5-6 inches thick and about 20 foot long..
