Hi
Do any of you have EDL on your GTi's?
I think it may have been an option...
I don't think I've got it, but I was wondering if anyone else has it, what it does, if it's good/bad/whatever...
I'm having my gearbox replaced, and I have been toying with the idea of seeing if they could fit EDL while they're doing it (if it is possible/any good)

i dont know wheather theyed do it as part of the warenty work but they might under condition of possible other items being changed i.e. if the edl model came with, say, different drive shafts
however a diff lock is usually found on 4x4`s so that you can traverse slippery surfaces and if a whell tries to spin it is forced to remain at the same rpm as the other wheel but it may be an electronically controlled limited slip diff
ill go into more deatail tomorow as its 2.30 am

What it does:
EDL improves driving & steering characteristics when accelerating on road surfaces where each wheel has a different degree of traction. The system operates automatically and is combined with the ABS system. Using the ABS wheels sensors, EDL monitors the speed of the individual driving wheels. When a difference in driving wheel speed is detected (i.e when one wheel starts to spin due to differences in road surfaces, e.g due to water or ice,) the system brakes the spinning wheel, transferring engine power to the wheel with the best traction. EDL is active in forward and reverse.
I sound like a walking VW brochure! Oh, I copied it straight from the brochure for my car

So it's software??? I thought it might be something in the actual gearbox, not just abs jiggerypokery!
Interesting stuff... Thank Mole!
