The light in my boot has not worked since i got my car. Ive just been to Halfords and brought a new bulb however it is still not working, what is the likely cause of this?
Cheers in advance, Dan

Hi Dan,
Do I remember you saying that you bought the car from a dealer? I bought mine from a dealer and the boot light had been unplugged just behind the trim there in the boot on the left-hand side. Seems a common thing if the vehicle has spent any time on a forecourt!
Cheers

Not sure where the plug is in all honesty. My mate plugged it back in on mine, when I wasn't paying attention!

If unplugged the wire dissapears down inside the car....
I only found mine by mistake when I took the trim off the left hand side of the car inside the boot area to recitfy a rattle...

You can check the switch really easily..
Turn on the engine...Open the boot and the "boot warning" light should light up on the dash...if it doesnt then you know the switch is FUBAR

just been out an checked the warning on the dash and it works, so im thinking it must be the fuse, as ive ruled out the bulb and the switch on the catch.

Just fixed mine last night, after god knows how many months. I had to replace the switch (£10) inside the boot lock. This was so badly corroded that there was nothing left to repair. This all due to the rear washer hose leaking.

there was a thread about this in the markV section not so long ago. Theres a connector down by the passenger seat (underneath the carpet obv) that is often disconnected for some unknown reason. If thats not it then probably a fuse? The fuse box in behind the plastic panel in the cubby hole to the right of the steering wheel. Theres a card in there that should tell you what fuse is which
Boot Light Frustration

I have recently replaced the switch hoping this was the fault but it didn't rectify the problem, to boot open light comes up on the dash, but if i measure the voltage across the boot light plug, it is only 0.2V? I have checked the bulb and holder unit on the 12V and it is working fine.
I've checked the fuse, I beleive it is No. 10 in the fuse box, this is fine or the interior light wouldn't be working?
I have scoured UK POLOS.NET but all the other posts seem to rectify their problems by replacing the switch, do you any suggestios as to what to try next as I am extremely frustrated
Some posts mention a plug below the carpet on the passenger side, that is the next thing I am going to look for, but the light was working previously so doubt this has just come unplugged?
Any help would be awesome!!

well the boot light should be activated by a switch near the latch, and the wire running down by the passenger well is to activate the light AFTER the switch initiates it. (can anyone confirm whether i'm correct here?),
so it may well be the connector down by the passenger side under the carpet?
