1.9 SDI Cambelt change??

Hi Guys
My wifes polo sdi is coming up to 52 k (53 plate) MOT is due soon so i was wondering if the cambelt is due for a change or is it chain driven???
any idea???

i think its the same as the tdi, belt driven.
not sure if the same mileage applys, got mine done at 80k

Its a belt driven cam-shaft.
VW recommend a change at about 60k I think... an origonal belt could last you up to in excess of 100k but if it does snap - get your wallet ready!!

Well
I thought i would update you all
Rang a couple of VW dealers for quotes
Work to be done:-
Cambelt tensioner pully, waterpump and 60k service
VW dealer 1
£890
VW dealer 2
740
VW indi (fully trained VW Mechanics Originally from dealer 2)
£420 all in, all VW parts and fully garenteed
No need to guess where im going

I was told with my 1.4 TDI its 40K miles or every 4 years so i got my kit from dingbro for 70 quid and the boyfriend fitted the belt
ive not done the miles yet but the car is 5 this year lol so it was a bit over due
