Just need to get this out of my system - i've had enough of these w@nkers who do it.

TURN YOUR FOG LIGHTS OFF WHEN THERE'S NO FOG! :x

and what's worse are the cretins who run their fogs INSTEAD of their dipped beams in the dead of night! TURN ON YOUR LIGHTS FFS!

That's better. Thanks.

It might look good at a cruise - but if really F**ks me off when they blind me. Fed up of having my retinas burnt thankyou.

simple solutions to this problem include replacing your main beam bulbs with a xenon kit, aiming your headlights too high and then making libera;l use of the left hand stalk behind the wheel on every opertunity

:D This is all very true, but I find that the vast majority of fog light offenders fall into two categories;

a) women drivers doing the school run, who didn't even knew they had fog lights in the first place so aren't going to know what the hell your flashing them for - they just press all the buttons that look anything remotely like a light when they get in, but really haven't got a clue what they do.

and b) 'just passed their test' baseball cap boy racers, who are driving 1.1 L reg Vauxhall Corsas with tinted windows, three spoke alloys and blue leds on their washer jets and can hardly understand english, let alone the subtlety of a headlamp flash

Still anything is worth a try!

do you flash yourself (oo errr) in that case? or is a a jekyll and hyde problem?!

that's ok, i can see why it might look a bit cooler, but it's still annoying!

Really annoys me to.

The thing is on a VW Polo 6n onwards you can't switch them on by accident and you can't leave them on by accident, there's a two way push and pull switch to activate front/rear fogs. So there's no excuse.

Please, please, please anyone that does this on the forum, please don't.

I can't express how much it narks me off.

RANT OVER

I with you Des on this one. There is absolutely no reason for people to be using their fogs 99.9% of the time.

It's difficult to categorise these gits though, as more and more often it's middle-aged blokes/old pensioners etc...

Last week I followed a driving instructor for three miles with his rear fogs on (he was the only one in the car). When he finally pulled over I opened my window and suggested that he may wish to turn the bloody things off, and that as a driving instructor he should know better (without profanities). I got a mouthful of abuse for his mistake  In future, he can have the headlight treatment!

Yeah! It really annoys me too!!
I wish I could stop a driver driving with the fogs on and ask him/her "Why??" I can't understand....

Oh! Here in Spain I saw a police car driving with fogs on. And, as leonsmith said, they where using...

So what can you expect if you see "the law" doing it!?

I think full beams are much worse than fogs. It does literally blind you. So lads/lasses please no full beams unless it's absolutely necessary

My fog light bulbs are the same as my full beam bulbs.

So that's why I ONLY use them when it's foggy!

I disagree that fogs dazzle, I have just been out this evening and, of course seen a few drivers with fogs and heads on. They did not dazzle me. What I and my wife both notice is that some cars heads seem VERY bright and we have been tempted to flash them thinking THEY are on full beam.
What I also notice is that some cars (big Mercs e.g.) have unbelievably bright brake lights, and they can really annoy...specially if the driver is covering the brakes all the time.

Cheers

Yeah the Merc's are bright, they use L.E.D's as standard, (well the newer models).

I get flashed a lot with the xenon's, but it happens a lot to cars with them, as a lot of people must think they're on full beam.

Having a bi-xenon set-up was fun..! If someone flashed you and you flashed them back, they would retreat with their tail between their legs!
