Well i've had a pretty crazy couple of days with the Polo! First of all i wired in my new LED's into the tacho and heater panel :D

And i got some shiny new bits from VAGparts too:

Took my first trip to a scrapyard and got some bits that i broke when doing the LED's, and a rear badge to spray black to match the front. I then went to Volksmania in chipping sodbury where they fixed me up with some MkV rears, a golf 3 inlet pipe and some seat ibiza window switches :)

Unfortunately though i didn't fit the lights flush, and water filled up my central locking pump, ending in a lot of smoke and one f****d pump :?

I then tried opening my drivers door, and the pressure from the pump as well as the pressure from turning the key snapped the lock

so i ended up with this:

Image

The left is my handle, the right is the spare from volksmania.

The old handle was BADLY corroded, so no wonder it broke!

While i was at Volksmania i scored myself a pair of 16v bumpers - FOR £60!

obviously i need them sprayed, but a friend of mine got me a sweet deal on a respray :D

Whoever owned the valver before though decided to be a t*t and turn the holes either side of the center grille into tow big gaping holes! Tempted to just smooth them completely off instead of trying to fix it, and attach the number plate to the lower grille?

Will post pics up soon!

iggy350: You need to wire 4 blue LED's and 3 red LED's into the heater panel using the +/- contacts from the bulb holder. I may write up a DIY guide if anyone else wants to know how to do this. Just be prepared for drilling and soldering!

Sorry about the poor pics guys, i'll take some more later with my SLR.

Oh yea i never thoguht about just connecting them straight up to that bulb holder.

Am i right in thinking you on about where the bulb fits behind the middle heater control knob?

yep thats the one mate, a little 1.2watt bulb - it has a 12v power supply which is more than enough (you need resistors  ) to power the leds! I drilled holes into the 3 pieces of green plastic (behind the dials themselves) and slotted the red LED's into them, and four blue ones in the slots where the piece of clear plastic was before... damn i'm even losing myself here! I you get round to doing this mod just ask alright, i think some people have used golf mk4 clocks though as they already light up red - but this ways more satisfying!

Well i made a guide in the diy section for the speedo, it's really not that difficult. The kits on eBay are a bit of a rip, http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/ are pretty cheap but the kit on ebay does come with exactly what you need (and spares if you break them!), and a guide on how to do it.

hum what have you done to mess it up m8?

Im going to do it however this frikking gearbox replacement i jsut had to fork out for has just cleaned me out for the rest of this month :( £329 sux tbh but I am going to get my new rear lights one sunday yay 4 me =D lol they are the standard polo lights but they are tinted black and they'll look coo lwith my black paint job and the look im going for =D

Once i get paid tho im sorting my interior out. My lights have died on my heater controlls and so has my frikking LCD screen has died on my kenwood headunit :( but its still under warrenty so its going off for repairs =D

When I do my led lights i'll take pics and make a guide on the DIY forum. If i remember that is =D
