hi,

Been looking into raceland manifolds, anyone actually have one of these on a mk5? don't even know if they do one for mk5 1.4 16v or not :? Are they worth the trouble and are they an easy fit?

Thanks, Appreciate the help

Yeah I know of a few people including myself who ran them on mk5 GTis...Not 100% sure for the 1.4 16v but I assume it should be fine?

I gained 6bhp with one of these on....not loads...but not bad on a N/A engine!

How much was it all inclusive if you dont mind me asking?

Would this alter the sound at all?

Got one on my mk4 8v, surely is noticeble after installment, sounds more "roaring" and isn't hard to install. Check Ebay for some bargains, see enough of them come by as biddings, and are also made for the 16v engines

Phil J is selling them on clubpolo for £155 delivered, so definately worth the hassle then? did you keep your cat back on with the manifold, because i cannot be asked with all this swapping it over for MOT time  and the only other thing i need some info is how hard fitting is? or how much it would cost to get it installed properly from an exhaust place?

cheers, Haris

No, it's not a lot louder, only when you push your gaspedal to the floor

Installment is not that hard, does will require some welding, so going to a specialist is adviceble if you don't have tools of your own or at a m8s

Right, Its not a lot louder at all really I found. I think I picked mine up between £150-170 but that was off a guy on clublupo who had one for sale...

I took mine to a specialist to get it fitted. Took a whole day! I kept my Cat on too...but with the raceland you have to have the downpipe made to move around something thats in the way (cant remember what to be honest, was a while ago) but exhausts UK in sheffield did the trick.

Just so you know, they're quite 'ticky' when driving due to the thinner metal...so exhaust wrap is always advisable...but I didnt bother...the noise is not that loud to be honest!

Thanks for the info guys, appreciate it :D if you don't mind me asking Chris how much did exhausts uk in sheffield charge? and any ideas on how much it would cost to get it heat wrapped as well? oh and was the rest of your exhaust system standard? Sorry about all these questions

Thanks, Haris

I believe they charged me £90 and spent almost the whole day working on it for some reason! To get it heat wrapped by them is very expensive...So i opted to buy my own heat wrap (cant remember how much) but you can pick it up on Ebay or Demon Tweeks etc for not too much I think.

And yes, the rest of my exhaust system was standard.

Cheers,Chris
