For the front any of the typical 288mm spec cars use the same fittings (Banjo at claiper and regular connection hard line)
Note - The Polo got a really raw deal brake wise, they didnt even get the decent 288/312mm spec caliper as used on the MK3 Golf VR6 or MK4 etc, and a terrible ABS system.....
I just fitted the 312mm setup with oem discs and pads and its a lot better than the p288's.
I've not looked closely but i'd imagin the 4 rear flexi lines will be common with another VAG model.

i was aware about the calipers yeah, just did not realise if the lines were different, i only want front lines too, not the rears, just want to complete the setup, do you know by any chance which of the 288 mm setup lines would fit? they are fitted as you described above
cheers

I got some TT lines with my calipers and they were the same as the Polo lines, so i'd try and get a set of those.
There is little point just doing the fronts on their own, unless its purely for looks.....
ETKA quote the hose as being 510mm long, i cant find anything VAG that is the exact same length on a different chassis, so you could either go direct to Goodridge and ask if they make any, or get a pair made up, or use some from a TT that would be about 30-40mm longer.

Are the Ibiza 1.8t (FR) front brakes different then Andy?
VW do some weird things, and it's a shame they gave the GTI such crap brakes.

No they are the same, seat brakes are equally bad......

When I fitted my Brembo kit it came with braided hoses that are the exact same length as standard ones and fitted perfectly. They must sell them separately, or goodridge can probably make some up for you.
I have had 3 G40's before buying my GTI and the brakes were pap on them too!

Sorry didn't get my point accross very well (as usual), I was thinking that as the Fabia vRS and Ibiza FR have been around a fair bit longer than the Polo GTI, there may be aftermarket braided hose kits for these models that will also fit the Polo. Having also had an Ibiza PD130 and a Fabia vRS I can vouch for the effectiveness of their brakes. Funnily enough my mk5 Golf also had the same size brakes and they seemed to stop pretty well

despite the car putting out 'slightly' above standard power.

Its a totally different braking system to the Polo
Its well known that the Ibiza/Fabia/Polo brakes are poor and that changing the 288mm discs etc will give minimal increases, you need the 312mm's to get the feel.
When i say poor, yes they work ok, but when giving them some serious use they really let the car down.
I dare say the other 288mm caliper will work better than the standard Polo one

will tt length lines make a difference to the polo ones, i mean will that extra 30 - 40 mm make a difference to braking?
bear in mind im replacing to get braided front and rears, dont wanna get longer hoses just because they fit and them make it worse

found a set of braided hoses on the vag parts website for a mk4 golf, will these be the same fitment as for the polo, assuming the length is acceptable im guessing they will be fine
anyone know golf mk4 2wd brake hose lengths
