newbie passat owner

:D got the wife a 97 1.4 cl last weekend white good cond apart from needs a bit of fillin n spraying.since then i have fitted new gaiter,stubby eriel,also debadged it and sanded down areas to be sprayed.flat smooth rear wipe on way also clear inicators ,side repeaters.my new project for winter really.i have gone as far as poss with my passat 1.8t :lol:

want to take the black rubstrips off aswell then try to blend the colour in.its my wifes but i am really getting into polos.i was at vw festival with my passat in leeds this year and looked at the polo group looked really good.my first car was a scirroco did anyone see the rocco converted to a audi tt grey i think/

Yeh, definitely take the rub strips off, it'll look much better. Take your time though 'cause it has been known to take some paint off with them if rushed.

thanks for the tip i wanted to do the same to my ssat but there are holes behind :cry: totally new to polos so is ther anywere to get parts ect?

You can still do it with your Passat, but it would require filling and smoothing :) . It's the same with a MK5 Polo.

For Polo parts, all depends what you're after. VAG Parts (best to ring them because they don't list everything on their web site) have pretty much all the OEM parts you need. Let me know if you're after non standard parts (wheels etc) and I'll recommend you some web sites.

thanks alot i know about my ssat but plucking up courage to do it as i am silver metalic so looks bad if not done properly.i am after a rear bumper setup as the lower tin peice is rotten.could go 16v bumper so in one peice?

Have you not thought of taking the Passat to a body shop to get a quote?

Yes, get a 16V rear (and front) bumper. They look miles better than the 8V bumpers.

yea quoted £200 for the strips and front /rearbumpers colour coded.not bad but its xmas :wink:

hard to say and dont tell passsat crew but wouldnt mind a gti or can i have a 1.8t in a polo?

Well the MK5 GTi (the one I have) is a 1.6 16V engine, but a conversion to a 1.8T 20V can be done .. same with a MK4. I don't think it's cheap though. The newest Polo GTi has a 1.8T 20V as standard :)
