Squeaking Brakes?

Hey guys, I've noticed when I apply the brakes I hear a high pitched squeak for every 360 degree rotation of the wheels. Any idea what it could be?

Have you checked them for wear and tear? When were they last replaced? Discs could be getting thin and warped, pads could be low....

I haven't checked them in ages. How can I tell if the pads are worn? My MOT/Service was in March and I had my rear discs and pads replaced, so assuming the fronts were ok then.
My brakes have always been crap, planning on getting G60's before my next MOT/Service March next year.

Take the wheel off and check how much of the pad is left - obviously they wear down through use and if they're close to having 'nout left on them, its time to change!
Depends totally on your driving style but my pads last anything from 12-18 months?
Cheers

You would no if your pads are done because braking will become pretty pathetic and it will squeek throughout braking as the pad and disc hit metal to metal

The only other time I have had squeaky brakes other than worn pads, was when one of my front discs became ever-so-slightly warped...
Mouse do you get any vibration (transmitted through the steering column) under braking?

No vibrations at all

Is the squeak constantly there no matter what speed? Could be a stone caught in the guard that stops water and debris from hitting the disc. Although a stone in there usually makes a hellish noise!

Tell me about it, you'd know if it's a stone though.
As Si says, it's a hell of a noise!!
