i have just been on to vag parts about buying braided brake lines for my polo gti,

thehelpful and friendly staff kindly searched all vag applications only to find there is currently no lines available for the car that are absolutely identical or currently made,

now it seems the calipers are different, even if only slightly to the vrs fabia items which the polo gti setup are based on, so we have agreed to have polo gti brake lines sent away and made up from scratch

i think this is really cool as its going to be a really positive first step setup for all gti drivers to increase braking performance cheaply

the lines are expected to take between 4 - 8 weeks to have made and tested before they are available for sale to myself and others

both the front hoses and rear axel hoses are going to be produced at a cost of just £29 + VAT a pair which i thought was great

just thought i would share my knowledge and good fortune

and with them being tuv approved, they are insulated so do not conduct electricity so dont suffer the usual problems metal hoses to andare completely road legal, so no problems come mot time

all in all, massive thanks to vag parts for going that extra mile
i will keep you informed of my findings out, as and when i know

This will more than likely be on my list of things to get done when the time comes around to increasing power on my standard GTi.

TUV has absolutley no relevance in the UK, it is a german standard.

Why do you need to send the lines away? Phone goodridge, tell them the length you want, tell them the fittings and they make them, easy, hell you can even buy compression fittings and hose and make them yourself.

Polo brakes are no different to the Fabia one's, they have the same fitment at each end, if lines are available for the Fabia VRS, they will fit the Polo.

What is the relevance of conducting electricity? I'd be expecting stainless ends on the hoses at that price.

You wont see a significant increase in braking performace with the brake lines - you should have really gone 312mm for decent brakes.

uprating the standard setup has made a massive difference already, as for conducting electricity, i know it should never need it but thing like welding add huge amounts of electrical current to the cars body, and non insulated items will be affected, and even environmental change etc

im simply saying what i have been told and found out, which in my opinion will benifit other users of this forum,

yeah you have 312 mm brakes, good for you

as for the fabia and the polo being the same, im led to believe not, even if it looks similar, there must be a difference as the part and item numbers are not matching up,

quite frankly andy, im getting a little tired of your abrupt, short mannered replies, if you have nothing nice or informative to add dont add a reply

Do a lot of welding using the brake hose as an earth continuity do you?

I'm sure VAG parts wouldnt go to the trouble of developing something for the Polo GTI if it was a straight swap with, an already available, VRS part/upgrade.

From what i can see Jeff is just passing on what he has been informed, i see no need for the sarcastic replies.
