have had to change the wheel bearings on the back on your gti's. My car has just ticked over 52k and now its in need for wheel bearings

changed mine at around 50k they were in a very bad state. they come with the hub, the only hard part was getting the nut off
my front ones are now in a really bad condition

you can tell as long as you can hear!!!!
i had to change 1 of mine at 65k

I had to change the front left one.
And as Tom said, if you can hear you will know when the bearing needs changing. It's very loud.

Changed my rear drivers side at bout 39k.
You can tell by the load whirring sound that builds up with speed but doesnt going away if the clutch is suppressed. Basically the faster you are going the louder it will be

Done 2 rear ones on my last polo, done 2 front ones on the GTI (they were noisey i had the whole hub off and though maswell do it while im here)

dont think my 1.0 has ever had a change of wheel bearings lol, its at 82k
