My Polo

The Polo hasn't sold yet, partly because of people changing their minds and partly because the 2 people who were coming to view last weekend didn't turn up because it poured with rain all weekend (not that I blame them!).

Anyway my autotrader and ebay ads have both now run out so I'm looking for some advice. Do I repost the ads today and hope for a sale before Christmas, or do I try to ignore my lack of money til the New Year and try again then.

I don't like the fact that the car isn't being driven at the moment, I can start the engine and let it run a bit but I'm not insured on it anymore so I can't actually drive it.

When mine was for sale I only got 1 phonecall via Autotrader, most people saw it on Piston Heads.

Have you got it advertised on many forums?

Mines was on club polo, uk polos, oxford edition, edition 38, uk mkivs - the more the better! I got an email about it the other day as i forgot to take it off Oxford Edition.

Mines on all of those but it disappears miles down the for sale list pretty quick! I've had a few phone calls from both pistonheads and autotrader, its annoying that you can't bump pistonheads ads!

I've just done that, hopefully it'll help - otherwise I know I'm gonna end up getting reinsured on it and wanting to keep it, can't afford 2 cars though!!

I think It’s just the time of year, everyone seems to struggle to sell in the winter.

Yeh, I thought that, but then I saw a thread on mkivs about what xmas bonus's people get and some people get a stupid amount!!

I don't really mind hanging on to it until after Christmas but after Sunday, me and Simon are going to have 4 cars between us and we only have 1 parking space outside the flat in theory! Also I don't like the fact that I can't drive it, its ok for a week but not so good for a month!

I know, question is, will it be any better in January or am I just going to have to sell it for stupid money anyway?

january probably wont be any better tbh....

if i dont make up my mind then i might put it back up for sale in february with new tax and mot!

If I wait til Feb, I'd have to buy insurance so I could buy tax and probably service and MOT as well as these are due end of feb/start of March. Think that would amount to a lot of money as it would have to be proper insurance, you can't tax a car if its only temp insured I don't think. Looks like I'll just have to take less than I wanted for it (originally I was after £4500) otherwise its just going to cost me loads!

Autotrader is pretty much the best place to put it. It's only £15 for 2 weeks, but as people have said that's best off starting in January, but you never know!

Forums always get the "If I had the money" posts

and never usually do anything in the end!
