Drove down to Derby Yesterday to pick up a Green cotton panel filter and HID's. So yesterday i fitted pd160 and green filter with the help of Chris.

So today i've fitted the HID's. Dont think i've seen HID's fitted to the GTI yet so this could be a first! (probably wrong though) Anyways they look great so check out the pics below! 8)

Cool. Be interesting to hear your thoughts on what this HID kit is like to drive with compared to the old 6N2 GTi :)

i had hid's in my polo a good while back now but never liked them

they were always both slightly odd in colour and flickered every now and again on startup etc

i also never liked tow the rears of the lights had to be cut, as in winter and wet weather, your lights fog up on the inside and looked toss

good looking lights though, but i lost the shaped beam patterns in the polo, so visibility was not as good

They were a right pig to fit, and a little bit of adaptation was required. I'm hoping that the way i've threaded the wires through the rubber cap will help them not fog up!!! Gonna see how i get on with them anyway and then i'll decide to keep them in or not!!!

They do look good but the only thing that puts me off is all the wiring and ballasts that are in the engine bay. Just looks a little messy!

The beam is quite controllable providing you get the bulb seated correctly, and the adjustment accurate - mine provide a crisp flat beam now I have replaced both the headlights (due to them being faulty anyhow :P)

As for the wiring, its easy to hide it away if you think about it for long enough :D

Get those sidelights blue dammit haha 8)

nice job Matt, i cant believe these arent standard on the new GTi! Are they available as an extra or something?

The answer is a big fat capitalised NO. Only the golf GTI had the option of a bixenon headlight upgrade. The Polo GTI lost these features in the new design :( Would look hardcore with projection lenses!!

oh yes! It really does. But it can be sorted with a set of Retrofit HIDs, and even better with angel eye projections with the angel eye part removed cleverly ;)

can you even get angel eye for the facelifted model, as they're not square/rectangular as on 6n's and not round like on 9n's they're weird shaped...lol oh I don't know what I'm talking about, but I've never seen any on the market!!!!???

I've ordered my xenons for my gti, they were great on my Ibiza, (aftermarket) also...very bright had to sell them tho being a different bulb fitment H1 instead of H7 or vice versa
