damn xmas!!!!!!!!!

im fed up. i was to repair the gearbox on my gti today so i can get to work over xmas so i ordered my 5th gear bearing,gasket.end cover and new 5th gear, was told they would deliver friday i then got a phone call friday afternoon saying my 5th gear was on back order from the factory in germany till the new year(factory shut down for 2 weeks) so they checked stocks with every vw dealer in the uk and believe it or not there is not a single gear in the uk. so now im absolutely stuffed. so i got the tools together to remove the 5th gear with the box still in the car and stripped it down and boy could not believe how easy it actually was to do this should only take an hour to fix when the part arrives. what actually got me with this is job is how picky i am as the bearing only started to sing last week and not a lot of wear or damage has been caused so just goes to show if you catch it in time you dont get a wacking bill for a complete rebuild all it is costing me is £120 for parts better than £400-£700 for a rebuild.
