Can I split an amp power feed into two?

Hi All,

Got a new active sub on the way to me. Im wondering - is it possible just to split the current positive lead going into my amp to run both the amp and the sub, or would it be too much strain on it?

Cheers

Alex

doesn't it just depend on what gauge rating it is? and how much watts the cable can handle? might be wrong but i would also like to know, since i don't want to be feeding another positive wire

I have a fused at the battery (200amp iirc) run of 0awg cabling going from the battery to a fused distribution block at the back of the car which then splits into 2 runs of 4awg cabling for the sub amp and front end amp.

So in a nutshell, yes you can  just get  yourself a distribution block.
