Hi everyone, great lookin forum you have here, only just discovered it.
Sorry but my first post is a cry for help.
My Girlfriend bought a '94 Polo Boulevard a couple of months ago, she cant drive yet and the poor little thing has sat on the drive waiting for her.
(It ran sweet as a nut when she bought it)
I went out this morning to give it a run after sitting idle for around 2 months (the car, not me )), put the freshly charged battery on and turned the key...........
Engine turned over fine but wouldnt fire !
Have checked all the ignition system, thats fine (poured a small amount of fuel into the carb and it fired straight away on the key, then spluttered and died )
I know its got fuel in the tank as the gauge is showing 1/4 tank.
I pulled off (what i asumed was ) a fuel pipe off of what looks like a pump at the off side front of the engine bay and it was dry as a bone !!
So, what could be the problem ? is there a common fault that occurs after these cars have sat for a while?
Could the fuel pump have siezed or are there relays i could investigate?
Looked in the haynes manual, all that said was take it to a dealer and get them to plug into the ECU fault finder thingy!
Want to avoid the dealers as i know that will cost her a packet, all her funds are going on learning to drive at the mo, so would love to get her Polo up and running sweet again for her.
Thanks in advance.
Rich
