Hi...

New problem... Wahey... After paying 600 euro for a full custom stainless exhaust a few months back it seems like my manifold has bit the bullet and is dying a slow death..
Ive noticed a big leak / hole in the flexible joint just below the manifold (6N 8valve 1.0 late 1999). Just wondering has anyone else experienced such a problem and is it a case of replacing the full manifold or can you cut and replace the flexi section?

Has anybody replaced their manifold (or flexi section just below)??
How much was it... VW part of GSF or where to buy one?
Would I be better off getting an aftermarket manifold from ebay? There approx...149GBP...?
Anybody have any experience with them ones? make it much nosier, cos its loud enough in my opinion....??

Replace the full manifold with the cat - thats the bit that hurts

I tried repairing mine twice - both times it failed after 6 mths in the end I picked up a nearly new one off ebay with a defective/damaged cat adapted the old good cat I had from the busted manifold to fit - lot of faffing around but achieved the end point I wanted which was a bolt in once a year for the MOT cat.....

I did think about doing away with the flexi joint completely but I reckon it's there for a reason

V plate will need a cat to pass MOT

Got a link to one?

PS I reckon your stainless steel system probably didn't help as it's probably not as well mounted as the original so more movement accelerates the flexi joint failure
