No doubt this has been raised many times in the past of what (realistic) cars you think you are going to progress to. But I'd like some opinions if possible...

I am toying with the idea of, dare I say it, a Renaultsport Megane 225 obviously it is French which worries me a little, but I just think it is a really good all round car for the money..what do you guys think?

My ideas tend to change with the weather/season/time of day. Here's a few of the ideas that have been through my head lately.

Obvious choices:

Audi S3,
Audi TT,
Honda Civic Type-R,
Seat Ibiza Cupra,
Seat Leon Cupra,
VW Golf Mk4 GTi Anniversary,
VW Golf Mk4 R32,
VW Corrado VR6

Less obvious choices:

Land Rover Defender 90 TD5 Truck Cab,
Toyota Celica GT4,

As for the Megane, it's a highly rated hot hatch for sure. The R26 version for example is the best and most hardcore according to Autocar. As for reliability, a Polo GTi isn't the last word in it anyway so I wouldn't worry too much!

may take a while of saving up though,

Either that or the Mark 4 R32

depends on your price range really, i value exclusivity alot so that makes a big impact on my choices...also a power Whore

under 10k i'd be looking at:
Mk3 ibiza cupra - naturally i got one lol (very tuneable, ppl are seeing 350+bhp)
Civic Type R JDM Spec import in white(never see a white one, can be tuned with a supercharger kit, a must really)
Golf Gti mk4 anniversary(same engine as the ibiza so easily tuneable)

Over 10k:

Clio V6 255 (rare beauty, bit slow though & not as easy to turbo)
BMW E30 M3(only car of the list not about power...classic)
Audi S3
BMW M3 e46
Ford Focus RS
Integra Type R
Leon Cupra R

and the definitive choice which WILL be happening at the end of this year/early next year unless i keep the beeza & go big turbo:

Golf MK4 R32 in Blue or Red with an HGP twin turbo kit a year later (will cost minimum 10k for the kit). 0-60 in 3.2

Heres a drag versus an e46 m3

Won't be after the Polo but I want to get a Lotus Elise or Exige. Suprisingly cheap compared to some sports cars in the market.

mmm, I guess none of the above has a mortgage!

The Gti is run as a 2nd car, when it is changed it will be for whatever I can get for about £5k, that is small (needs to fit in the garage), is nippy, handles well and has a/c.

I want something good out of the box, that I don't need to modify, only thing i can think of that ticks all the boxes is a clio 182 with cup packs. A CTR would be nice, but is too big.

VW Golf MK5 GTi
VW Golf MK5 R32
Vauxhall Astra VXR

Shanty, does the twin turbo kit fit on the RHD R32? I know the HPA one doesn't from past enquiries 8)

didnt think of that!, i researched into the costs of the kit, i assumed it did, there is an R32 on pistonheads at the mo with a single turbo kit, pretty sure thats RHD.

Best bet is to go on the R32 forum & ask.....if not I will be going LHD :?

Bugatti Veyron

I was told the single turbo fits the RHD but the twin doesn't. Bloody europeans get all the perks

Still, HPA do a 450bhp single turbo kit.

Performance Statistics:
450 hp
415 ft-lbs torque
14 psi
1/4 Mile 11.89 seconds

owww but i want twin

did you find price estimates etc for the HPA kits? and for fitting? anywhere in the u.k?

The hgp prices are here in euros:
http://www.hgp-turbo.de/vw/r32.html

apparently the EIP's are not to be trusted, the kits are alot cheaper but the cars tend to go pop & there is a large angry mob after them...also heard rumours they have shut down

I made a bit of a golden rule that my r32 must be outputting over 400bhp as alot more power will be lost through the 4motion & the weight of the car, anything under and my cupra would have a chance of keeping up....and i dont want that lol
