hello! and a question

Hey, as you can see by the post count, I've just joined the forums. my name's Ben, and I'm 17. I'm the proud owner of a 52 plate MkVI polo (9N?) 1.2E. It's my first car, and I love it to pieces. Everything bar the wheels are standard (previous owner had put some cheapo alloys on it). And I don't really have the money to change anything big, and won't do for some time.
One thing that does interest me are some better headlights. Osram Nightbreakers, are some of the best for the price that I've found in a few places (often coming with free sidelights).
Now I've a few questions about these headlamps:
Which type do I need?
The guide on powerbulbs.com says: H7 for dipped beam, H1 for full beam, W5W for side lights. Is that right?
How much brighter are these than standard bulbs? Is there a useful and noticeable difference?
Fitting them... What's it like? Do I need to take the bumper off? How long does it take? Is there any precision alignment? I'd rather not pay a garage to adjust them for me.
Where's cheapest. Is there anything that's better value than Osram's around?
Any other advice?
Cheers =]
