I bought a pioneer 6900ib head unit and installed it yesterday in my 2007 polo. whenevr i turn off my engine and remove the key my unit stays turned on. the only way to turn it off is to manually do it by pressing the button on the radio. i have swapped the red and yellow wires over as it seems to be the thing to do but this has not helped. any help or advise at all would be great.

Cheers

On my kenwood unit i had to switch the red and yellow wire. The combination was
Red ---- Yellow

Yellow ----- Red

Not sure about Pioneer though.

take an ignition feed from somewhere else like behind the fusebox. usually black/blue wire. its only a switch wire so will draw hardly anything through it.
i think the new polos are can-bus wiring so there isnt a 12v ignition behind the stereo, correct me if im wrong?

cheers for the last post. yeah from what i have been told there is no 12v behind the radio. would wiring it to the blue/black wire be easy enough or would i need to get someone who knew what they were doing to do it? as i have no idea at all about cars really.

The red and yellow is for the HU to have a permanent live to remember settings - it doesnt control the HU turning off with ignition.

Mine does the same in a 2000 polo - it doesnt turn on/off with igntion - ive just got used to turning it on and off myself.

There are ways round this....but it would mean you wouldnt be able to use your radio with ignition switched off.

what do you reckon? it's probably not the worst having to turn it off, but at the same time it's a bit annoying if you're gonna be getting in and out of your car a fair bit. if i set it so that it wouldn't work when the ignition was off would i lose all my settings every time i turned the car off?
