I'm not convinced, personally. A mate of mine was looking at one of these for his 1.4 8v mk4 Polo but decided against buying one.

I can't see how it would generate "up to 20bhp" on a Polo :?

Here is the important bit, "generates UP TO" he's not saying it will, simply that it could.

Probably wont do anything though to be honest.

Ha, those ads crack me up. I mean all those graphs and diagrams look pretty, and make the product look more feasible than it really is; in reality they mean nothing at all

I want to hook one up to my Micra, but I don't like the price. Maybe I'll hook up a computer fan on a crappy old induction kit and stick an aesthetic dump valve on top. POWAAAHHH, YEH BOI!!111! They must make huge amounts of profit from these poor people who are led to believe that they can get huge gains off a fan on an air filter. Oh well.

I think exactly the same and still doubt how it could be any better then a normal induction kit lol HOWEVER, 'power_plant' used to have one on his 6n 1.6 and said it was quite good although he didn't mean in terms of adding power like 20bhp. He meant it in terms of you get good air pressure throughout low speed too when theres less air hitting it cos've the lil 12v fan lol

I'd rather just get a BMC if I ever wanted something like that.

Your scepticism is right.

These are useless. A proper turbo spins (at full speed) at up to 120,000rpm whereas the 'electric supercharger' spins at (a claimed....) 25,000rpm.

These kits conveniently forget the fact that air heats up when it's compressed. Hence charge coolers, intercoolers and such like.

The also forget the heat that turbos generate, hence they have oil feeds etc.

These electric kits are nothing more that cheap pc fans in the inlet. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually hinder the airflow at higher engine speed.
