Hi guys,
I have a Mk4 polo (1997) and I was driving around last night with full beams on down a country road. Turned off the car and got out. When I got back in I tried to turn my headlights on and I got nothing!! accept fogs...

I tried to turn full beams back on again but they wont stay on. I have to hold the indicator lever forward to get the full beams to stay on. All tail lights are fine!

but I cant get any side lights or dipped beam atall. The strange thing is dash lighting and all other lights are working fine, indicators everything!! Not sure what it is but I think it might be a relay??? Can anyone help me out pllleeeeaaassseee!!!!!

Cheers!

Luke

the other day i turned my lights on and when you do your lights around fan speed, temperature, etc all light up usually and mine didnt. so i thought that the fuse must have gone but then after 2minutes of driving they turned on :o

yeah ive checked the bulbs. Am i right in saying that the full beams use the same bulbs as the dipped beam in a 1996 polo???

Anyone know which relay controls the headlights or the indicator stalk??

Cheers

Same bulbs yes but in the bulb are two filaments - one can fail and the other can still work - Bulb no good when that happens

I had same problem in a different car. The indicators still worked and the full beam wouldn't stay on unless I pulled back to stalk.
I just went to a breakers and bought new stalk and it solved the problem.
Good luck!

Doubt its a relay issue inless it's linked to the indicators. Maybe you broke the switch for the full beam on the steering wheel, they are easy to replace and fairly cheap.
