my mate is selling wheels off his corsa b will they fit my 1996 polo diesel?????

Think both fitments are the same or you need spigot rings for the CB but can't remember. As long as the rims are 4x100 PCD, 57.1mm CB its ok with a recommended 35-38 Offset you should be fine.

My opinion is No without any machining and the off set is gonna be a bit kack too

But as he is a mate get him to come round and swap a wheel to try it - hell I've been wrong before.....

4 stud vauxhall wheels should fit mate.

Centrebore is smaller on a Vauxhall than a VW - so unless VX make em with large tolerances they will not seat properly on the hub

my dad told me they would fit and he works with vauxhalls every day around wolverhampton alot of people come to him for help lol

Seriously and please don't take this the wrong way but............

Me - I'm just pointing out that there are differences in centre bore and if the centre bore was bigger spiggot rings could be used to fix it but as they are smaller then the wheels will need centre bores boring out to provide a good fitment. this may go unnoticed by someone who isn't experienced with cars (after all they bolted up tight didn't they).......

My biggest concern is that they may seem to fit but the hub face on the wheel won't be touching the back of the wheel and after a while it would chaff some clearance lead to lose wheel bolts and a wheel or two coming off and a big accident with maybe people hurt maybe more than just the driver of the car with wheels from a car that "fitted" OK cos someones dad said they'd fit - nothing against your dad at all but there is one thing that you don't foxtrot oscar around with and that's safety

I've been driving cars for best part of 25 years and working on my own cars and bikes for nearly 30 years - I've made some huge mistakes in the past and learnt from it.

I have several cars capable of over 150 mph and one which will do 180 mph and has on several occasions been there - I apply the same rules to those as I do to my Polo if it's going to be modified it needs to be as good as or better than the original set up

As bstard child says, they will fit hub wise, but the bore is too small on vauxhalls, and therefore requires boring out, even if its such a tiny amount, to ensure that they are hubcentric and fit spot onto the hub itself. Ive had vauxhall wheels, and they had to be bored out prior to fitment.

He specialises in fitting Vauxhall wheels to VW's too then cos if he doesn't then sorry shaun-_polo that's not enough in my book for you to say they will fit.

TBH - I don't think you are listening are you so here's my experience base in pictures cos I think that would be easier

I've got several Vauxhalls myself and have owned various ones since 1987 - I won't go into the history of cars I've had just the ones I own today.

Last time any of my cars went into a garage was 20 years ago - they did a rubbish job and I said to myself I'll never let anyone touch one of my cars again and seeing as we are talking Vauxhalls lets start with one of them

A Vauxhall of sorts - On track at the 40 yrs of production at Hethel (Lotus)



to be honest it a bit big and heavy for track work so for that I use this - again a Vauxhall of sorts - An Opel Monza GSE 24V (On two wheels in a sprint event at Malory Park where I won the class and came 4th overall)



It does sideways too (but it's not a quick way thro a corner)



Resto Project is another Opel plus another two others

Daily Driver



And then there is the Polo (technically her car) and Mitsi FTO

I never tire of how awesome the Lotus Carlton looks.

And I'd be inclined to take bstardchild's advice, based on the fact he has a vast quantity of knowledge on stuff like this.

It does not say your dad is "in-experienced" it says that the fact that they don't fit "properly" may go un noticed by some who "isn't experienced"

You are saying publically on this forum that you can fit Vauxhall wheels to a Polo cos your dad says so and he know Vauxhalls

I am saying there is a problem with

1. that advice
2. the centre bore on the wheels are different and need machining to fit properly

I like my cars - and they explain my level of experience
