interested in getting this -
http://www.tradingdirect.co.uk/car_security_mp5000.asp
it supposedly is a universal fitment which would work with most alarms. The pager notiies you when you car alarm has gone off - very handy if youve parked round the corner, or outside work but cant watch over the car. or cant hear the alarm if it were to go off.
Has anyone used this before and is it any good. More importantly is it REALLY universal. How hard is fitment to a scorpion alarm?

Hi got one of these on my astra, one will be going on the wife's polo! dead easy to fit, should be compatible with most alarm systems! mine is stand alone, so no alarm going off on the car! gives me chance to get down there and sort out those sticky fingered little gits!

Hi it been a while, basically from what i remember you have a door pin positive wire, a door pin negative wire a positive trigger wire and and earth and a battey positive, its not too bad to use stand alone in addition to your alarm! i have a glass break sensor and voltage drop (door pin activation on mine. i might be albe to help you out if you have got the wiring diagrams. Hi there found some paperwork my end, Basically this is by the coloured wires i have, not sure if yours are different,
Red = Battery positive.
Yellow = Glass break sensor trigger,
Black = Earth (chassis)
Blue = to accessory position ignition,
Grey = To door pin positive,
White = To door pin negative,
To be honest the easiest way to pick up power is to scotch lock from the stereo wiring harness eg earth, positive & accessory. The unit only uses milli amps so not got to worry there!
If you have a glass break sensor fitted to your alarm you only need to pick up one wire, to be honest these are cheap on ebay so it might be worth running in separate to the alarm!
The grey wire taps into the wire in the door pin if vw's have two you need a meter or test light to check whick one is on the positive side,
and the White can be put to the earth i soldered mine to the screw that retains the door pin.
It might sound bad but i dont think its too hard, if you have any different wiring let me know and i can try to help you! you should have got some sort of diagram with it!
if not send me a pm and i can give you my mob number.
