Has anyone had problems with their rear wiper? Mine goes for a couple of inches and stops then starts again. Jittery is the best way to describe it It's not related to the wiper blade as that's new

Yep, it judders on the first wipe then as it comes back to where it started it's smooth.

I'm not alone then. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Its to do with the tension on the wiper blade. A new blade often sorts this - depends on the condition of the rubber, so it jumps as its not fresh anymore.

I have fitted a new wiper blade. The jerky movement is different from when you have a juddery/goosed wiper

What kind of jerk is it then?

Is your rear window clean?
Even though its a new blade there could be friction because of dirt

It's almost like the wiper motor is pausing for a bit. I have the same problem on both Polos

I get this on my front wipers too, I've always put it down to them being aftermarket aero wipers, I tend to not really worry about it

My rear wiper also does this. I found that its pretty useless anyways, just like the washer that always pops off and leaks into my carpet.

I might spray some white grease on the linkage to see if there's any improvement.

Hence the best option being de-rear wipering

If I removed the parts on my GTI each time they have broken I wouldn't have much of a car left

I think I must have mis-read, it's my blade that judders.
Even when I fitted a new one it started again after a few wipes!

Mine was ok with the standard one. It's juddery with the Aero wiper as it's a very tight fit and sits at an angle against the screen
