Rite well here goes im just after buying a 1993 Polo Coupe 1.3 Genesis, taxed and mot'd, but at the minute she's totally standard and well i want to drop her so firstly are ya safer gettin coilovers all round or are ya safer with just lowering springs! Secondly wat sort of wheels do ya think i should get, i was thinkin the usual BBS, but was also thinkin ATS cups or Ronal Turbo's. Cheers in advance!

hey, welcome to the forum!

coilovers are quite hard to come by for the mk3 due to the set up thats already on the car. you can get them, but not sure where from. my personal suggestion would be to go for a decent spring and sports damper kit. i had standard shocks and lowering springs on my old mk3 and it was not a good ride at all. would never do it again! would go the hole hog!

as for wheels, turbos and cups will go on, but i believe they look a little too big for my liking. i had 15's on the same mk3 as i've spoken about above, and although it looked good, it just wouldn't go low enough and i had scrubbing issues! some people do some people dont.

to be safe, i'd go for a 14 of some kind.

Hope thats of some use to you mate, but remember, its completely up to you if you go for it or not! Stuff what we say!

15s will fit easy so long as you stay close to et38 go no wider the 6j wide, 6j is safer though depending on level of drop and use either 165/50 or 175/50 tyres
coilies arent worth the money imo on a mk3 unless you make your own
there are loads of decent quality spring and shox kits for the mk3. polybush + brace the front end and it will handle just as well as coil overs

cheapest coilovers for a mk3 are £550 from Phil Jackson of Jackson tuning, he has a store on Polo3.co.uk (I'm a mod on there if you ever need any help) and Clubpolo.co.uk, he also offers shock and spring kits from £120.

I recommend going for 13's and a 60/40 drop, looks awesome (thats what I'm running)
