Looking to buy some coilovers for my GTI soon and wanted some opinions.

Had KW V1's on my Lupo GTI and was impressed with the quality and ride, bit bouncy but that could have been due to the short wheel base of the Lupo as well.

Interested in Eibach Pro Street as well, i'd like to here peoples opinions on these as i know Jeff rates them highly.

my black gti was on fk silverlines, dropped really nicely front and back with no fingers in the arches, but really depends on what you want

i think ill be getting them again for the white one as i want that on its ass too lol

I'm looking at getting coilovers for my gti...but I've only managed to find Eibach and KW...I didn't know FK made coilovers for the gti? How much do they cost?

i paid about 450 for mine delivered

loads of manufactuers make them mate

as you said eibach and kw, fk, weitec and even the budget cheap ass ones are available if you just wanna drop it low!

Not all manufactueres list a specific application for the GTI

All 9n coilovers will fit. . . But may not be right for the wights

FK coilovers are pretty poor really, had a set on the MK2 and they risted like mad. The silvelrines might be better, but i wouldnt buy them again.

Got Eibach's on the Polo, and they are pretty decent.

Money being no question, I'd be putting it on KW V2's

Got a set sitting here for my MK2 when its rebuilt, they are Superb pieces of kit!

i agree with andy with the rusty FKs

i had a set on my mk4 polo and they were seized within 8 month!

the silverlines i have had on for about a year and after a quick wash they span down straight away! so i would recommend the silverlines or the konisports over anything!

V2 sounds good though, its like you said its about the money lol

definately wont be getting FK's!

Whats the minimum for KWV1 and Silverline?

I have a front splitter and Im unsure how low to take it, because my drive has a slight incline.

ride handling and comfort is second to none its absolutely spot on, really cant recommend them highly enough

mine is set to the bottom at the rear and 5 mm lower at the front

And are they fairly straight forward to fit on the new Polos. I fitted a set to my Lupo and that wasnt too difficult.

KW are OK, but be wary of KW's inox marketing. I have the V3s on my Corrado, which I bought on the strength of their reputation in VW circles, but they're not that great imo.

The spring perches seized solid on my front legs after one winter's use, and being plastic, they broke very easily when trying to turn with the C spanner. KW of course think their products are perfect, so wouldn't listen to my complaints.

The V3s also have very noisy dampers, so buy with caution. The V2s might be better, but I'm reluctant to recommend the brand as a whole tbh, especially if the car is your daily transport.

Based on my past experiences, I'll be sticking with Bilstein PSS or H&R coilovers in future. Both kits use Bilstein's excellent gas monotube (inverted) dampers, but the H&R kits have more forgiving springs, so ride better. They resist corrosion and seizing very well too.

I never had any problem with my V1's really.

Does anyone know if you must use new upper mounting bolts for the front suspension when you remove the old ones? Haynes manual says you do but why is this necessary?

It is not necessary, but it is recomanded. I've done so...
